There is a stillness that belongs to the deep, where a sperm whale moves unhurried through dark water. The Nantucket Whale throw carries that stillness in an antique scrimshaw-style engraving, echoing the whaling heritage that shaped Nantucket and the New England coast for generations.

Woven from midweight, substantial cotton in a yarn-dyed jacquard process, the design holds real depth and texture — from the barnacle detail along the whale's back to a single sprig of gold-accented seaweed drifting beside it, set against a deep, faded coastal blue.

The fringe carries its own detail: a raw multicolor edge along the long sides, and a classic black-and-white finish on top and bottom.

The Art of the Loom

Unlike surface-printed textiles, every thread of this piece is physically interwoven to build tactile depth and structural character.

The fringe is an organic extension of the weave itself—vibrant, multi-tonal yarn along the sides gives way to deep foundation threads at the top and bottom. As these rich colors cross over the dark base, they create a soft, muted artwork within the body that yields a dimensional texture printing simply cannot replicate. No two sizes wear it quite the same — the fringe rearranges itself as the loom scales up, so the Oversized Throw carries its color a little differently than the smaller two: black-and-white along the sides, multicolor at the top and bottom.
